MEANWHILE... BACK IN 2012
An account of the day from Dave McCraw. The 2012 event in Edinburgh had fantastic support with cyclists coming from all over Scotland and beyond. The POP (Pedal on Parliament) ride was to highlight the need for safer cycling conditions (ie not just facilities) to increase the number of people cycling and also reduce road deaths. The day went smoothly thanks to the many volunteers who marshalled feeder rides and the ride itself. Thanks should also go the Lothian and Borders police who deployed as many bikes as they had! The still below is from Chris Chapman’s helmet cam. He was on his ICE trike and captures some of the less common machines on the ride. This video from crgn gives a good overview of how it built up on the day. Camera angle does change after start and has some very nice footage taken on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
