THE LONDON-EDINBURGH-LONDON AUDAX 2013. TWO LAID BACK CUSTOMERS TOOK PART. DARKERSIDE’S EXCELLENT ACCOUNT OF HIS RIDE HERE.
London-Edinburgh-London 2013
The LEL London-Edinburgh-London Audax is held every four years. The next one will be in 2017. The next PBP Audax will be in 2015 so these major long distance events alternate. The LEL can be entered by anyone who feels they can do the 1450km distance inside 120hours. (The PBP can only be entered if appropriate qualifying Audaxes have been completed first). In 2013 around 1000 entered but not all made it. I’m happy to say that both the bikes and riders we were involved with did very well and completed inside the time. Very well done to them! Both had been inspired by Andy Allsop’s book Barring Mechanicals - rider Julian Parsons even used a Challenge Furai - albeit a 26” wheeled version.
Rob Williams opted for a 700c wheeled MetaBike. Both machines used a front lighting hub and ran B+M Luxos with USB charger built in.

Paris Brest Paris Audax 2011
Two LB customers took part in this gruelling 1200km event. The PBP is one of the cycling world’s oldest events and is held every four years.
Riders have to complete the out and back course to Finisterre inside 90 hours. Both Dave and Alf were successful - very well done to them.
Dave McCraw rode a Nazca Gaucho 28. More of his experiences can be found here.
Alf Chamings rode a Challenge Seiran SL.
