Who, why, where?

Laid Back is operated as a partnership between David and Irene Gardiner. We began doing recumbent tours back in 2005 from The Bicycle Works, close to the Meadows. The new showroom is still a good location close to quiet streets and not far from the Meadows. Email to make an appointment or visit the shop on a Saturday - 14 St Peter’s Place, Edinburgh EH3 9PH. We monitor our email at other times and can generally open up the shop out of hours with notice.

Bike prices
Many of the brands we sell are priced in Euros on their respective web sites.
For an idea of what a bike we haven’t shown here might cost look at the manufacturer’s own site and convert to GBP. For the most popular models we have pdf sheets which we send on request. We don’t have bikes for sale ‘in stock’ although we do sell ‘demo models’ from time to time.
New bikes are quoted via email and built to order. We discuss all options based on experience of the brands we sell. Waiting time for NL and DE brands is around 6 weeks. ICE, Circe and Urban Arrow less.

Test ride versus Tour?
A test ride is free but confined to local streets in Viewforth area beside shop. A tour can go to places such as Portobello or Cramond on the coast. For those that want something longer, South Queensferry beside the Forth bridges is possible. A tour via Silverknowes and Cramond is around 25 miles and takes around 4 hours including stops. Riding a two wheeled recumbent takes practice and some tours are easier to do with a mix of trikes and bikes.
Prices are £30 per person. A personalised
Laid Back Gift Voucher is available for £35. See ‘Tours’ page. Notice is required for tours but I do try my best to fit people in if possible.
